A club record 44 players participated in the Watauga Chess Club's Many Springs Open #21 on  
August 14, 2004. The tournament was highlighted by the participation of Masters Peter Vavrak (2437) 
and Michael Kujovic (2328) who shared 1st place overall in the open section with 3.5-0.5 scores after 
a spirited draw in round 4. 

Top Class A prize was taken by Tom Kusnierz (1864) with a 3.0-1.0 score. 1st Class B was shared 
by Benard Johnson (1772), Tapiwa Gwaze (1650), and Stephanie Ballom (1617) with 2.5-1.5 scores, 
and 1st class C was taken by Austin Green (1568) with a 3.0-1.0 score. 

The reserve section was won by Madhav Ayyaguari (Unr) with a perfect 4.0 score. Sharing in the 2nd 
place reserve prize along with the 1st E/Unrated where Jon McKee (Unr), Wayne Yee (Unr), and 
Robert Van Housen (1111).  

MSO #21 was directed by Kent Gordon and assisted by the many members of the club including 
Aurelio Gonzalez (registration), Tom McCaslin (prize fund), and Darrel Knobloch (photos).
