    This is a public website. All content provided on this website by the Watauga Chess 
    Club is for informational purposes only. The Watauga Chess Club maintains this 
    website for its members and visitors. Although every effort is made to maintain 
    privacy in accordance with these guidelines, neither the Watauga Chess Club nor 
    its members guarantees such privacy. 

    This website has many links to other sites. When you link to another site, you are 
    no longer on this site and are subject to the privacy policy of the new site.

 
  GENERAL PRIVACY GUIDELINES 

    Except for the posting of children's names with pictures, there are generally no 
      restrictions on posting children's names on this website. 
    The posting of a child's address, phone number, or e-mail address on this website 
      is prohibited. 
    Generally, there are no restrictions on posting an adult's name on this website. 
    The posting of an adult's address or phone number on this website will be done 
      only with the adult's permission. Usually, an adult's e-mail address will be 
      posted only with the adult's permission; however, an adult's e-mail address 
      may be posted when it is generally understood that it is permissible to do so. 


  PHOTO PRIVACY GUIDELINES 

    The pictures on this website are posted for the enjoyment of the members, their 
    families, and their friends. The pictures show our enjoyment of chess activities 
    and the camaraderie among chessplayers. They also present a positive image of the 
    Watauga Chess Club. All pictures posted on this website will be in good taste. 

    Any picture posted on this website may be downloaded by anyone. The downloading of 
    pictures from this website CANNOT be prevented. 

    The following guidelines for the posting of children's pictures are complex. With the 
    public nature of the Internet, the privacy of our children is extremely important. 

      Scholastic pictures of children WILL NOT be posted on this website. A parent  
      or guardian is required to sign a photo release prior to the posting of their 
      children's pictures. The following procedures will be followed for the posting of 
      children's pictures on this website: 

      ******* AS A RULE, THE NAMES OF CHILDREN WILL NOT BE POSTED WITH PICTURES. ******* 

      Posting of a child's indentification information such as full name, address, phone 
        number, or e-mail address with pictures is prohibited. 
      Captions without children's names may be used with pictures of children, e.g., 
        "View of playing area," "Deep in thought," etc. Captions must not provide a means 
        by which a child's identity can be determined. 
      Every attempt will be made to prevent the association of a child's picture with a 
        name (child or adult) appearing elsewhere on this website when such association 
        could result in the child's identity being deduced. 
      When requested by parents, a picture of their child posted on this website will 
        be removed or if not alone in the picture, the child's face will be rendered 
        unidentifiable through photo editing. 

      If for some compelling reason, children's names need to be posted with pictures, 
        then parental permission is required prior to such use. 
      Only the first names of children may be posted with their pictures. 
      If children's names are posted with a group picture, no indication will be made  
        as to where each child is located in the picture. 
      If children's names are posted with two or more group pictures, posting of names 
        and/or pictures will be done such that children cannot be identified through a 
        process of elimination. If this cannot be done, then the children's names will 
        not be posted. If necessary, appropriate pictures will not be posted. 
      If a picture showing one child is posted, the child's name will not be posted with 
        the picture. 
      If a picture showing two children is posted, the children's names will not be 
        posted with the picture. 

      Although these Photo Privacy Guidelines apply to numerous situations involving 
        children, there may be situations arise which were not foreseen when these 
        guidelines were promulgated. In such situations, every effort will be made to 
        insure the children's privacy. 

    For adults, the following photo guidance applies: 

      All adults are required to sign a photo release prior to the posting of their 
        pictures on this website. Generally, there are no restrictions on the inclusion 
        of an adult's name with his/her picture. 
      If an adult requests that his/her picture be removed from this website, it will 
        be removed or if not alone in the picture, the adult's face will be rendered 
        unidentifiable through photo editing. 

    All pictures submitted for posting are subject to approval by the Webmaster. 
    Unused digital pictures will be deleted. Actual prints will be returned whether 
    posted or not.
